About Me

Sara Eftekhar is a nurse practitioner, community leader, mother, and health equity advocate who is strongly committed to social justice. Raised on the North Shore, her early volunteer work shaped her future focus on women’s health and health equity. She contributed to Canada’s first study on a nurse-led health program for survivors of intimate partner violence, worked in a rural Indigenous community, and volunteered with refugees in Egypt.

Sara has championed policies like free prescription contraception and paid leave for survivors of gender-based violence. She helped establish forensic nursing services at Lions Gate Hospital and has been involved in initiatives addressing intimate partner violence and sexual health. Internationally, she represented Canada as the first youth delegate at the UN Population and Development Conference.

Her leadership has earned her awards like the YWCA Young Woman of Distinction Award and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal. Sara also serves as a Vancouver Councillor for Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC and holds several advisory and board roles, including at the Vancouver Foundation and the City of West Vancouver.

Currently, Sara is running as the BC NDP Candidate for West Vancouver-Capilano in the 2024 BC Provincial Election. With her extensive experience as a nurse practitioner and health equity advocate, Sara is ready to bring real change to the BC Legislative Assembly. She’s committed to representing her community with passion and integrity. On October 19th, 2024, vote for Sara Eftekhar—a voice for progress, health, and justice.
